Production Title: Perfect Planet Company: Silverback Films Line Manager: Huw Cordey Programme Length: 50 minutes Season: 1 Genre: Natural History Sector: Broadcast Television Description : Series researcher on the 2020 blue chip landmark series for BBC1. Working on the series from initial development I worked closely with producers pitching sequences and helping to shape the overall series narrative. I was the sole researcher for oceans and sunlight episodes and was also heavily involved in the volcano and weather episodes. I personally oversaw the logistics for 15 international shoots. These responsibilities included initial research of locations and contributor, permit applications, decisions on kit bookings, PRA writing.
I directed 8 sequences including a multi camera team for over 10 weeks in the Canadian Arctic filming a long lens predation sequence and also utilising Drones, Macro studio shoot in the USA using a variety of specialist macro kit including the ARRI Master Macro, the Laowa 24mm Scope and the TS-160 Robusto Scope, repeated seasonal lapse-times in Zambia and Zimbabwe, studio and field night-time macro shoot in South Africa which again used a variety of specialist macro kit and adopting a number of different lighting techniques, predation sequence in the Falklands which adopted long lens, ronin, inteli-jib and drone, underwater predation sequence in Australia which also utilised drones
Additionally I assisted on a number of shoots including Dive supervising and safety diving a rebreather predation shoot in Guam, rope access multi camera-operator canopy sequence in Vietnam, Macro studio shoot in Thailand, Multi camera operator underwater sequence in the Galapagos and a underwater macro studio shoot in France. I also self shot and directed 1 x 10 min making of using the Sony X70 and filmed additional behind the scenes footage and interviews using the Canon XF105. I also recorded sound on a number of shoots using the Zoom H5 and took behind the scene stills using the Canon 5D MKIII.
During the edit i was responsible for logging rushes, edit prepping sequences and preparing script notes.
Perfect Planet had to produce a number of extra content including 360 videos and minisodes for co-producers, i took an active role in pitching this content and producing it.
Whilst working at Silverback i also assisted in the development of new commissions including preparing pitch treatments. I also oversaw the recording of information to enable us to apply for the BAFTA Albert certification. |
