I got the chance to work with some brilliant PD's, DV's and shooting AP's during this production.
Working within a small team we cross shot many reality scenes with the contributors. These scenes ranged from intimate one to ones right to full crowd scenes of up to twenty people at times.
At times it was my job to follow the action in the heat of the moment, capturing the drama as it unfolded while also directing and production the contributors.

I worked with a brilliant team on this programme as we followed the lives of a new couple coming to terms with the stresses of bringing a child up in a single-parent house. Working with a brilliant DV Director and Story Producer we created a safe environment for the contributors. I helped guide the story with great input from the DV Director and we cross-shot many of the scenes. We encountered a few tricky situations that were fixed by using a Gopro to great effect. |

I really enjoyed working on this brand-new kid's show.
I shoot in a studio-style environment with 4 other camera operators. We filmed everything from actuality to VT's including material for digital (TikTok style videos) through to master interviews with the contributors and guest judges. |

Working as a self-shooting PD on this show was a great challenge. The contributor was a little camera-shy to begin with but after a few rehearsals, they came to life and worked very well with me.
I had to create a short 15-minute segment for the show which included, setting up and shooting 2 interviews in a small space. I then shot lots of actuality with the contributor and two show specialists. |

It was a pleasure to work with a small yet great team on this job with, Andrew Painten, Tom Copland, and Series Producer Ben Sheldon.
The job entailed managing contributors while they went about their daily lives in hospitality or working on their new business adventures. The elements were challenging at times and the aim was to make the show look stunning while yet with a real ob docs edge - which I believe we achieved.
The show was mainly cross-shot using an FX6 and the new Ronin 4 which makes the programme feel fresh and new.

It was fascinating interviewing so many current and retired police officers about the true crimes they covered across their long careers. I enjoyed the challenges that came with the making of the reconstructions that fitted many of the stories that I heard throughout the process. |

This was a fantastic project to work on, fast-paced, challenging, but extremely rewarding. The schedule was very tight; some days were frantic and involved much driving up and down the UK. The job entailed working with serving police officers and retired ones, each with a great story to tell. The challenge was making these fine people feel comfortable in front of the camera so they could tell their outstanding and unique stories.
The storytelling angle was then married with creating the recon for many of these stories, working on a tight budget and very short lead times.
The skills required for this job were many, from, looking after the officers, to lighting and interviewing them, to creating the reconstruction of many of the stories. |
