Having clocked up 20 years as a broadcast journalist, 10 years as a lecturer in broadcast and online journalism and the last 6 years working on films, animations and training for public and third sector clients, I’m looking to start a new chapter in my career. I am passionate about helping people to tell their own stories, and enjoy working on location with contributors. I would love to work on documentaries or factual programmes.

My interest in social affairs began as a young AP at Radio Clyde working on The Flip Side of Christmas following Strathclyde’s Emergency Standby Team taking vulnerable children into care over the festive period.

As a reporter at STV, I regularly delivered off-diary stories on hard-hitting topics such as domestic abuse, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction, youth offending and the plight of asylum seekers and refugees in Scotland.

During my time leading the Masters in Multimedia Journalism at GCU (BJTC & NCTJ accredited), I not only taught the practical skills of newsgathering, writing, editing and presenting, but always tried to inspire my students to use journalism to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Recent projects I’ve directed at media co-op include films for Scottish Women’s Aid, SCVO, Rape Crisis, See Me Scotland and the Robertson Trust. Gemma’s Story, an animation highlighting domestic abuse and stalking survivors’ experiences of the criminal justice system was named Best Charity Film (Small) in the Third Sector Awards 2023.
