Key skills include self-shooting (Sony FX6, FS7 & FX9) single and multi-camera directing, many hours of edit producing experience as well as and overseeing numerous shows through grades and dubs ready for delivery.
I have been involved in helping to establishing new formats and evolve and refresh 'Flag Ship' productions. I also have ob doc experience working on a high volume property restoration show Renovation Nation for Ch4 and most recently Homes Under the Hammer for BBC One.
As a Senior Producer/Director I have had responsibility for managing large teams, location logistics, editorial story lines as well as directing key contributors and presenters. I am very adept at managing high profile talent and have had the opportunity to produce and direct many household names including: Alan Titchmarsh, Fiona Bruce, Monty Don, Nicki Chapman, Diarmuid Gavin and Carol Klein.
I am very much a team player, and a safe pair of hands, great at putting contributors at ease and have a good sense of humour. A selection of testimonials across a range of productions can be found in my profile below. If you are looking for a highly experienced Senior PD please give me a call to dicuss your project.
Read LessSimon was one of the PDs on the second series of Renovation Nation for C4
He successfully met all the demands of this high volume production which included lone working at various locations across the UK
On location, not only was Simon directing, producing and managing the sound - he also had to data wrangle at the end of each shoot . He did this with gusto and good humour whilst also maintaining strong , effective relationships with all of his contributors
A truly valued member of my team

Simon was very adaptive to the many different changes in the production. He worked tirelessly behind the scenes on his films and picking up the slack where needed on others. And his thorough knowledge of plants and gardening were super helpful when it came to scripts and story ideas. He got great contributions from the presenters too
Stephen Leigh Series Producer Love Your Garden
Simon Brant is a man of many talents. He can shoot, he can direct - and, rare amongst male so-called PDs of my acquaintance, he can actually produce - and very well too.
He has charm, and is at ease with even the most awkward of on-screen talent. He has a very good editorial mind, and is an excellent EP. Again, he both edits well AND produces his programmes from the edit suite.
He is a pleasure to work with: supportive, a team player and hilariously witty. I look forward to having something interesting to offer him again int eh future. Do not hesitate to employ him.
Kerry Richardson, Series Producer
Simon is a true gentleman, brilliant with presenters and contributors and highly experienced. He produced 2 as live flowers shows and worked as PD on Gardeners' Word with me for two years running. This year he set up a UGC platform in a matter of days which required fast turnaround and attention to detail. He then went on to successfully run the UGC team of four. He's a great producer.
Sharon Fisher, Series Producer/Producer Director/Edit Producer
I worked with Simon on Gardeners' World back in 2019. Simon worked really hard on the Malvern and Gardeners' World flower show events, and was a pleasure to work with. I was always impressed with how much he valued the Production Management team, and worked closely with us. He's got a great sense of humour, and brilliant work ethic!

Simon is joy to work with. Calm, professional, talented and great with presenters and contributors. He's a great team member and brilliant on location. He knows how to deliver in a huge range of situations - including large and complex shoots - and is the sort of person that everyone is really pleased to have on the team.

I had the pleasure to work with Simon for fourteen years, mostly as a multi camera director on Antiques Roadshow but also on coverage of Chelsea Flower Show where he produced single camera inserts. Simon is an unflappable force, well accustomed to the pressures of fast turnaround TV shows and has always delivered quality results. He has also confidently led large teams in the complex planning of events acting as the senior producer overseeing the logistical and technical arrangements. He is diplomatic and well accustomed to managing collaborative relations with important partners and agencies. He has great drive and flair whilst also being a highly popular member of the team. I am happy to offer longer references via simonshawtv@outlook.com
Simon Shaw, Executive Producer
I have loved working with Simon over the past three years on the Antiques roadshow. He has been a great support to the Multicamera unit as director and has also been looking after the venues at the same time which is no mean feat. He deals with stressful situations in a calm and clear manner in order to get any problems that may arise resolved. He has a great manner in the gallery which feeds down to everyone on the floor. Not only is Simon a great Multicamera director but good to have around, as he creates a tight nit team by keeping the morale up with his unique sense of humour. Simon will be a credit to any production he works on. I very much look forward to the next time I get to work with him.

Given the industry downturn, job postings now receive a much higher volume of applicants, which may delay the review of CVs and cover letters. Frustrating, but we appreciate your understanding!
20% of my applications have no recognition of even cover letter being viewed.
I can understand that with so many applications recruiters will find it hard to sift through them all but it’s their job! Don’t even get me started on companies offering a rejection letter…as for feedback…
Imagine a future in tv production where folk can’t be bothered to turn up for an interview because there’s so much work around. Production companies would have to work much harder to interest people in coming to work for them - it might happen one day 🤔
