I was fortunate enough to work alongside Alice Smith on a vast array of projects during my five years at WTFN. What makes Alice stand out as a top notch editor is her ability to take on any project (regardless of its subject matter) and own it completely. Working with her is a real treat because despite being very capable of working autonomously, she absolutely shines when collaborating with others. She is today's thinking editor (definitley not your paint by numbers type) and a true asset to any team. Finally, aside from her obvious skill set (she is clearly up to speed with all editing programs and nails gfx's etc) she is joy to be around. In the five years that I worked with her I never once heard Alice complain about tight budgets, long hours, other inexperienced team members etc - she just got on with the job and did it excellently.
I worked with Alice Smith on two series of "Tony Robinson's Time Walks" for WTFN and have no hesitation in recommending her. Alice's ability to cut through to the heart of a story, interview or sequence is second to none in my experience, and her skill in wrapping it into a finished product, with music, S/FX, and graphics makes her a speedy, efficient, extremely valuable member of any post-production team. She is highly creative, an editing all-rounder in the very best sense of the term, and her willingness to take a brief and work to it unsupervised is a rare quality. She is a delight to have on a team. My only regret is that I couldn't think of a way to stop her from leaving Australia to add to her already advanced skill set by working in London. Hire her....you won't regret it!
Alice first came to my attention whilst a student studying media at RMIT in Melbourne. The work she produced for the RMIT end of year showcase convinced me that this was someone I wanted to work at WTFN. Starting as an assistant editor, it took no time at all for Alice's light to shine brightly and she quickly moved up through our editing ranks to become one of the companys most popular and most requested editors - everyone wanted Alice on their team. There was no genre Alice couldn't handle and I can't see a limit to what Alice can achieve - she really is that good. To find all these skills in someone who also happens to be a lovely person, who mixes well with other staff and is respected by her producers just makes Alice the complete package.
