LoveLove Films were commissioned to create animated TV graphics for series three of Channel 4’s renowned TV series SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The return of the hit series SAS: Who Dares Wins sees Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and his elite team including Foxy, Ollie and Billy take 25 new civilian recruits through a grueling recreation of the SAS selection process. The Special Air Service (SAS) is the British Army’s most renowned Special Forces unit. Minnow Films asked the LoveLove team to produce satellite style maps that could show the routes the new recruits take.
The Process
We were delighted to work with BAFTA winning Minnow again and to have been chosen to produce the animation work.
LoveLove Films recreated satellite style animated map graphics, which showed the rough terrain and highlighted routes that the new recruits would have to navigate in order to hit an RV extraction point.
To create the map, we used satellite imagery as a reference and then 3D modeled geometry to match the real world geography. Then comped together icons, routes, and markers in animation software.
The Result
LoveLove Films’ Managing Director Georgina Hurcombe states: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with the Minnow team once again. Minnow always produce such exciting programmes so we were delighted to have been commissioned to provide the graphics for SAS: Who Dares Wins, a show the whole team enjoy!”

Animation Producer / easyJet: Inside the Cockpit / ITV1 / ITN/ Lovelove Films / Jul 2017 to Aug 2017 |
Production Title: easyJet: Inside the Cockpit Company: ITN/ Lovelove Films Line Manager: ITN Programme Length: 30 minutes Season: 1 Genre: Documentary Sector: Broadcast Television Description : The Brief
LoveLove Films were commissioned by renowned production company ITN to create the graphics (title and bumpers) for the new ITV two-part mini series ‘easyJet: Inside the Cockpit’ which is narrated by Stephen Fry. The series focuses on new rookie pilots, following their journey from entering the cockpit for the first time to piloting a large jet with over a hundred passengers.
The Process
We were delighted to work with ITN again and to have been chosen to produce the animation work for the series. ITN had a clear vision of how they wanted the graphics to look – incorporating a plane flying across the screen revealing the ‘Inside the Cockpit’ title in the clouds.
Once ITN had decided that they wanted an image of a real easyJet plane to be included as the focus of the animation, the image then needed to have the background removed and replaced with footage of real, cloudy sky.
To make more visually pleasing, the plane was given reflections, shadows and highlights to give a more three dimensional style. Clouds were added to the foreground, putting the plane in amongst the cloud layers.
The Result
LoveLove Films’ Managing Director Georgina Hurcombe states: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with the ITN team once again. ITN always produce such exciting programmes so we were delighted to have been commissioned to provide the graphics for such a great series! We can’t wait to see the programme on air, excuse the pun!”
easyJet: Inside the Cockpit starts airing at 9pm on Monday 14th August on ITV1. |
Animation Producer / Williams / BBC / Minnow Films / Lovelove Films / Jul 2017 to Aug 2017 |
Production Title: Williams Company: Minnow Films / Lovelove Films Line Manager: Morgan Mathews Programme Length: Feature Length Season: 1 Genre: Motoring Sector: Feature Film Description : The Brief
LoveLove Films were commissioned by Minnow Films to create the entirety of the graphics for the BBC Films feature ‘Williams’, a documentary from BAFTA-winning director Morgan Matthews that charts the story of Formula One’s most celebrated family.
The graphics included animating 56 archive photos as well as creating and animating the titles, captions and subtitles. With a quick turnaround time, Minnow Films approached us because they knew we were fast and efficient, having worked with them before on the Channel 4 program Lagos to London.
The Process
We worked closely with director Morgan Matthews and producer Hayley Reynolds, who had a very clear vision of how the animated archive images should look. We used an array of animation techniques to animate the archive images, which were essential to the story as the film is predominantly told in the past.
The animation technique used to animate the archive images involved cutting out all the individual elements, foreground and separating the layers – manipulating them to bring them to life. Morgan wanted certain aspects of the images to be focused on, so we played around with the focal lengths and animated them in a way that would help draw the viewer to that certain point
The Result
Williams is receiving great early reviews and is in cinemas and Curzon Home Cinema from 4th August. Out on DVD, Blu-ray and on demand from 14th August.
On working on the film, LoveLove Films’ Producer Georgina Hurcombe states; “Lovelove Films were delighted to work on the Williams film. It’s such an incredible story and a heart-rending watch, when we watched the first cut as a team we were all in tears! We were delighted to be working with director Morgan Matthews and producer Hayley Reynolds We’re all really looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen”
Williams’ Director Morgan Matthews said on working with LoveLove Films; “As the name would suggest, LoveLove put a huge amount of passion and care into their work. The LoveLove team really understood the fact that we had spent over three years working on our documentary about the Williams Formula One team, and that every detail had to be just right. They worked around the clock to get us there and I could not be happier with the results.”” |
Animation Producer / Lagos to London / Channel 4 / Minnow Films / Lovelove Films / Apr 2016 to May 2016 |
Production Title: Lagos to London Company: Minnow Films / Lovelove Films Line Manager: Nancy Nigro Season: 1 Genre: Observational Documentary Sector: Broadcast Television Description : The Brief
LoveLove Films were approached by BAFTA award winning factual production company Minnow Films to create motion graphics for their Channel 4 documentary Lagos to London.
Minnow Films wanted to replace the placeholder graphics, which were taken from the social media of those participating in the documentary, with sleek and stylish graphics that fit the luxurious theme of the documentary.
The Process
LoveLove Films animation team designed motion graphics that would showcase the images, which were taken from Instagram, and help them suit the tone of the documentary. The images were given a parallax effect, injecting movement into one part of the image, such as an arm or a head, and given a swipe effect, which made them look like they were being viewed on the smartphone.
The Result
The end result looked stunning, and the images now suited the polished, luxury tone of the documentary, and were visually engaging for the audience due to the moving components of the images.
Nancy Nigro of Minnow Films said “Thanks for all of your hard work on this project- my exec especially was blown away by the quality of your work! I’ll definitely have you at the top of our list next time we need graphics.”
She went on to say: “It was my first experience with LoveLove and couldn’t have been happier with the motion graphics for our programme. Speedy turnaround, great price and impressive result.”

Production Title: The Super Orgasm Company: ITN Productions / Lovelove Films Line Manager: Liz Friend Programme Length: 50 minutes Season: 1 Genre: Factual Entertainment Sector: Broadcast Television Description : The Brief
LoveLove Films were commissioned by renowned production company ITN to produce a set of TV graphics for Channel 4 Programme ‘ The Super Orgasm‘ – The Super Orgasm Tv Graphics
ITN sought TV graphic sequences that were informative, educational but also were also easy for the viewer to understand.
The programme ‘The Super Orgasm’ examines the mysterious science of the female orgasm, probing into groundbreaking new scientific research involving an unusual phenomenon known as the ‘Super Orgasm’.
This daring, fresh and original Channel 4 documentary takes the viewer through the real-life experiences of women who have encountered the unusual sexual phenomenon. The programme also interviews worldwide leading academics and medical professionals who guide us through the fascinating science of the female orgasm.
The Process
LoveLove Films presented several TV graphics and animation styles to ITN and we were delighted that they chose a stop-motion style that entwined mixed media assets. This was a fun, friendly and informative way to depict what happens to the body whilst experiencing a ‘Super Orgasm.’
First, we created storyboards for each of the graphic sequences. Each one detailing the different effects the ‘Super Orgasm’ has on the woman’s body and mind.
We created all our own assets, which included sourcing a nude model. We held a female crew only nude shoot at our HQ Cinechrome studios.
LoveLove Films and our talented team of animators then combined both the life model and the animation assets to create a unique paper collage style that animated as if it were a stop motion. The Super Orgasm Tv Graphics graphic sequence involved using a variety of creative methods to produce visually engaging, eloquent, hypnotic and powerful motion graphics.
The Result.
The show gained much attention and publicity, having been featured in The Daily Mail, The Huffington Post and Cosmopolitan Magazine to name a few.
ITN were delighted with our fast turnaround and graphics and we have since been commissioned by the production company to work on yet another set of 2D animated TV graphics for another show they are in production with.

Director Liz, also of ITN Productions, said;

Animation Producer / Bike Week - Cycling UK / ITV / Lovelove Films / Apr 2017 to May 2017 |
Production Title: Bike Week - Cycling UK Company: Lovelove Films Line Manager: David Murrey Programme Length: Under 30 minutes Season: 1 Genre: Charity Sector: Commercials Description : The Brief
Bike Week is an annual event ran by Cycling UK to promote cycling and show how cycling can easily be a part of everyday life by encouraging ‘everyday cycling for everyone’, with the 2017 event taking place 10-18th June. Bike Week encourages over half a million people to join in events, rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around. LoveLove Films were approached by Cycling UK with an open brief to produce a fun and inspiring 30-second TV advert for Bike Week with a quick, 4-week turnaround.
The Process
LoveLove Films were commissioned to produce a 40 second advert from concept to completion. This included designing a unique mixed media concept, developing the poem/script and storyboards, coordinating the production, shooting against green screen in our studio, animating and recording the voice over.
Cycling UK wanted to feature an array of different biking personalities and locations within the advert which is why we pitch a mixed media world of animated locations with real life people and bikes. Lovelove Films put a casting call out to the local cycling community and our social media post gained over 63,000 views organically and we received 400 applications within 3 days from cyclist enthusiasts to take part in the TV advert .
For the mixed media world environments to work with the live-action biker, LoveLove Films crew needed both the bike wheels to spin in front of the green screen in order for the animation to appear as though the contributors were really cycling. To overcome this, we built a custom made rig that held the bike stationary and stable whilst both wheels moved.
We turned the project around in an extremely quick turn around concept to completion including the clear cast and delivering processes.
The Result
Cycling UK and Bike Week were overjoyed with the final Cycling UK TV Advert , which is run on ITV Hub throughout the whole of Bike Week. The unique, appealing visuals and the inspiring, upbeat poem combine to tell the cycling lifestyle in a nostalgic way that will hopefully inspire adults and youngsters alike to get out on their bike.
David Murray
Head of Communications and Campaigns Cycling UK stated:
“Thank you all so much for your patience, upbeat mood on this campaign, and general brilliance! We can see why you are called Lovelove Films as we lovelove the advert you have produced for us! Cycling UK TV Advert Is a huge success”

Producer / The Love We Had - Joss Stone - Music Video / MTV / Lovelove Films / Warner Music / Jun 2013 to Jul 2013 / Warner Music |
Production Title: The Love We Had - Joss Stone - Music Video Company: Lovelove Films / Warner Music Line Manager: Georgina Hurcombe Programme Length: Under 30 minutes Season: 1 Genre: Music Sector: Music Promos Description : The Brief
After successfully completing two projects for Stone’d Records, LoveLove Films were contacted with the opportunity to create a music video from concept to completion for the record label’s prime artist Joss Stone. The label came to us with the most popular track on her latest album The Love We Had, wanting us to complete the music video in time to coincide with the song’s worldwide release as a single.
The Process
LoveLove’s in house writers came up with a concept that perfectly suited the emotionally powerful and heart wrenching song, with the idea of interior rain representing the singer’s emotional state, which physically manifests itself inside her home, destroying all of her personal possessions.
LoveLove then spent time constructing the devices that would be needed to bring the video’s concept to life. The rain machine was made by the visual effects team out of store bought items. Location recce’s were conducted to find the perfect apartment to suit the video.
LoveLove Films then shot the majority of the music video over two days, filming all of Joss’ footage and everything in the apartment over this period.
Finally practical special effects footage was filmed at a separate location, which was able to be made indistinguishable from the apartment setting.
As well as the music video LoveLove produced a behind the scenes video, a series of videos for the products featured in the official music video and a lyric music video for The Love We Had.
The Result
The video has been a huge success. It has been described by many people as the best music video that Joss Stone has ever made. It has also received huge critical praise from publications such as The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, OK Magazine, The Sun, Promo News and many others.
The video has also yielded a high number of viewers, gaining over 500,000 views within three weeks of being uploaded onto Vevo and Youtube. The music video currently has over 9 Million views on VEVO. It has also been screened on television channels around the world. In the UK alone it is being shown on the music channels MTV, MTV Music, VH1 and others. |
