Channel Manager
Description
Channel Manager, Brinkworth Productions
1 year fixed term contract to start asap · Full-time · London (hybrid, NW5)
Reports to: Digital Director
Suggested salary band: £42,000 to £52,000
The role: Brinkworth makes premium access documentaries. Now, we’re building an owned digital business on top of it, including a major talent-led venture launching this year. You'll own the channel publishing and management end to end: what goes out, when, how it's packaged, and what the numbers say about it afterwards. This is a hands-on ownership role, not a posting or coordination service. The Channel Manager will translate agreed strategy into programming, briefs, release plans, packaging, publishing, community activity and performance learning. They will be trusted to make the routine decisions needed to keep channels moving with pace and discipline.
What you'll do
• Own the publishing calendar across our owned channels
• Oversee digital content packaging: titles, thumbnails, descriptions, tags, chapters, playlists, end screens etc.
• Be our in-house YouTube expert. You’ll live and breathe our YouTube channels, understanding the analytics, creating the thumbnails, moderating the comments and managing the upload schedule for long-form and Shorts.
• Run day-to-day channel operations in YouTube Studio and across secondary platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn)
• Comfortable running A/B tests and acting on findings. A test-and-learn mentality is a must.
• Own community management - comments, moderation, and knowing what the audience is actually telling us
• Build and run the weekly performance reporting
• Maximise content for monetisation
• Work with the video editor on what to make next, based on data
• Keep us compliant with platform policy, monetisation rules, and brand-safety standards
• Track the competitive set
• Ensure metadata and search terms on all our content is optimised
• Identify gaps in the proposition, schedule or audience journey early and bring a clear recommendation, not only a problem
• Own the organic growth plan for assigned channels and support paid activity through clear objectives, briefs, creative testing and joined-up release planning.
What you'll need
• Two or three years running YouTube channels, with clear results
• Genuine fluency in YouTube Studio and analytics
• Fluency with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and in-platform analytics
• A real eye for packaging
• A storytelling instinct and an understanding of how to grab and retain audiences
• Sound editorial judgement and the ability to turn a strategy or audience need into clear briefs, programming choices and timely publication decisions
• Highly organised, curious and low-ego; comfortable owning concurrent priorities, making decisions with incomplete information and improving systems as the operation grows
Nice to have
• Media law knowledge
• Ofcom knowledge
• Working knowledge of rights, releases, archive, music, platform policies, advertising disclosure, privacy and digital editorial or legal risk.
