Documentary maker Jane Preston has joined the board of bullying and sexual harassment watchdog the UK Creative Industry Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA).

Preston, a former newspaper journalist whose credits include directing Raw TV’s Disney+ doc series In Vogue: the 90s and producer/director of Swan Films’ Channel 4 doc The Extraordinary Life of April Ashley, is one of four creative figures to be appointed.

Joining chair Helena Kennedy are music industry lawyer Kienda Hoji, Advertising Standards Authority chief executive Guy Parker and former chief crown prosecutor for North West England, Nazir Afzal.

The government-supported authority, which is financially backed by Time’s Up UK, the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky, aims to create and embed an industry-approved best practice framework for workplace behaviour across the creative industries.

Consultation on the framework begins next month and the board’s first move will be to steer it to launch in early 2025.

CIISA will offer an independent and confidential place to report concerns and receive tailored advice and support.
