Shine TV has hired BBC Studios' unscripted production chief as its new managing director.

Jon Swain joins the Masterchef producer this spring, taking over from Tanya Shaw, who recently announced she would step down from the Banijay-owned company.

Swain is swapping flagship BBC Studios titles including Antiques Roadshow and Gardeners' World for Shine TV brands including MasterChef and its spin-offs, Hunted, The Island with Bear Grills and Channel 4's upcoming reboot of Changing Rooms.

Swain, who previously headed factual entertainment at Optomen, has also secured BBC Studios' first wave of titles for third parties since it became a commercial operation, including ITV's Inside the Dutchy and C4's upcoming factual series Undercover Police: Hunting Paedophiles, announced last week.
