Saturday Night Takeway stars Ant and Dec have launched a scheme to help young people from diverse backgrounds.

The Princes Trust-backed Making It In The Media scheme offers two weeks of hands-on training for 16-25 year-olds who are not currently in education, employment or training, with potential job interviews set to be on offer afterwards.

It will be launched in London in July and the presenting duo hope to extend it both to Manchester and their native Newcastle.

As well as aiming to capitalise on the increased demand for programming from the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime, the pair said they wanted the scheme to identify young talent who could revitalise production companies with their insights into what young people like to watch.

The presenters, who run Mitre TV, said they wanted to pay back into the industry after getting their break on BBC kids drama Byker Grove when producers came to their school looking for children to audition.
