The BBC has signed Blast! Films director of programmes Alistair Pegg as an arts commissioning editor.

Pegg will sit alongside Mark Bell, Emma Cahusac and Stephen James-Yeoman in the BBC arts team.

He leaves the Sky Studios indie after 12 years, in which time he oversaw a slate that included BBC2’s Secrets of the Museum, The Tube, Before Grenfell: A Hidden History and Darcey Dances Hollywood and Channel 4 returners The Secret Life of the Zoo and The Supervet.

Pegg was previously a commissioner at C4, where he greenlit My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. He has also worked in development for RDF Television and Diverse.

He joins the BBC on 25 April and pledged to work with producers to “innovate in form as well as content”.
