A huge thank you to Aaron Jones, Ed Rigg and Isy Imarni for putting Big Screen Hack London together, and for the kick off last night at Wonder Studios in Hackney.

Big Screen Hack puts filmmakers and AI developers in the same room and asks them to make new cinema together. Filmmakers bring vision, taste and craft. Developers expand what can actually be made. The point is work neither side could finish alone, then a real screen and a real audience for it. 🎬

This runs alongside the BFI London Film Festival. Entry is free, in person or online. Teams have five days, from the kick off on Monday 5 October to midday UK time on Sunday 11 October, to make a pilot.

Three tracks:

🟢 The Greenlight, with Fairground. The winning concept is developed into a funded series and airs on Fairground TV.

📺 The Big Sell, with OpenClips. A Black Friday or Christmas ad, with $1,500 and a slot on the IMAX.

🎯 Sponsors’ challenges from StoryMachine, ElevenLabs, Runware and others, each with their own brief and prizes.

Across the tracks there is more than $50,000 in prizes and credits. The shortlist premieres on Friday 16 October at the IMAX, in front of buyers, commissioners and press. 🏆

After the brief dropped, we all went to the pub. It was a good room, and a good way to start the week. 🍻

If you are building in this space, this is the week to ship something worth watching on a very large screen.
